Puppy Classes

Please note that at this time all our puppy classes and our wait list are full.  We hope to be able to reopen the wait list in the coming weeks.  We will announce here and on our Facebook page as soon as we are able to do so.
First Timer Puppy Classes: Not available at this time.
We are pleased to be able to announce that we are able to offer a limited number of puppy class spots for our Thursday and Sunday classes. To be eligible for our puppy classes, pups must be between 10 weeks and 5 months of age.
To register for classes please click on the link below. Once you have registered in the coming days we will send you a link that will enable you to book into the class that suits you.
There will be Three First Time Puppy sessions available in the coming weeks. You only need to book into 𝐨𝐧𝐞 class. Once you have attended your first class you are automatically able to attend future classes. If a class books out you will need to select another class. We expect classes will book out quickly. Once full we are unable to open more spots until class numbers allow for more to join.
Introduction class spots are limited to manage capacity and to ensure we are able to run a professional training centre that supports the development and learning for all our customers and their puppies/dogs. Once you have registered your interest to attend an Introduction class you will receive an email (within a few days) providing you with a couple of class date options, you will be able to register your preference via the event brite link held within the email.

We understand that this will mean that some people will need to wait a couple of weeks to gain a spot for the Introduction class, however, we feel it would be a greater disappointment if we took on more members and were unable to support them appropriately. We will continue to open as many spots as we can going forward.

This class is for people with a puppy under 5 months of age that have not attended any of our puppy classes previously.  Please note we will need a copy of your puppy’s vaccination records to attend this class.

As we are sure everyone has noticed in recent times COVID numbers have increased largely meaning that businesses have often had to close at a moment’s notice.  Please always check either our Facebook Page or the Dog Training classes page on the website prior to attending classes each day in case we have had to close classes due to COVID requirements.

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 as we will need everyone to follow the rules to allow us to run the classes.

“There is no more important time in your dog’s life than in the period from 6 to 20 weeks of age. For this reason, there is probably no more important training you will do with your dog than puppy classes.” Michael Garden

Learn more about our puppy school, preschool and puppy training classes with the frequently asked questions below.

Yes, we do have age restrictions in place for our puppy school and preschool in Melbourne. We currently accept puppies from 10 weeks to 5 months of age. After approximately 5 months of age, pups will move from our puppy classes up to our basic dog training class.

We encourage every new puppy owner to consider puppy training from an early age. Multiple studies have found that exposing puppies to high levels of stimuli early in life can improve their overall temperament as well as increase their ability to handle stress – both as a puppy and an adult. As a result, puppy class can help prevent many common behavioural problems, such as aggression, separation anxiety, fears, and many more.

To ensure this exposure is in as safe environment as possible, our puppy school is conducted on sealed surfaces that have been exposed to ultra violet light, and all dog waste is cleared up promptly. We also ensure that all adult dogs who participate have been fully vaccinated. These precautions allow us to create as safe environment as we can for your puppy.

Our puppy trainers cover the following areas in each puppy class:

  • Basic obedience puppy training (including commands such as sit, drop, stand and come)
  • Preventing bad behaviours such as jumping up and nipping
  • Toilet training for puppies
  • How to prevent aggression over food, bones, toys and other items
  • Correct socialisation of puppies (there is more to socialisation than simply letting your puppy play with other dogs)
  • How not to barge though doors and how to be calm in the house
  • How to lie on a matt until told to come off

As with all of our dog training classes, our puppy training in Melbourne is run by instructors who have been through a thorough training program and have extensive puppy training experience. As a result, we can assist with a range of issues, including toilet training puppies.

To give our clients the best chances of success, our puppy trainers are also available before and after classes to provide advice. There is plenty of time allocated in our puppy class for all your questions.

Our puppy classes have two different time slots:   Thursday evenings at 7.00pm and Sunday mornings at 10.00am. The classes are held at Norwood Secondary College, situated on Byron St in Ringwood (Melways Reference 49 K4). You will see signs both on Byron St as well as once you’ve entered the School, helping to show you where to go.  You do need to book to attend classes.

We recommend you arrive 15 minutes before the puppy training class begins, and you should bring your puppy, a lead, and your puppy’s vaccination card.  You will need to book through  Like as on facebook for all our puppy class updates.

After you’ve enjoyed your first two free puppy school and preschool classes, we offer 3 different options for you to choose from if you wish to continue puppy training (we’re sure you will!).

Our Bronze Membership has no upfront membership fee and you can attend as many classes as you choose for the small fee of $60.00 per class.

Our Silver membership is ideal for those wanting to attain a basic level of control and obedience. This membership level has a annual membership fee of $450.00 and then you only pay a $10 fee for each class you and your puppy attend.  If due to Government Covid restrictions the classes are such down at any stage the membership period will be extended for the period classes are shut down.

Our Gold membership is designed for those wanting to train their puppy to a higher obedience level. The cost is a once-off membership fee of $1100.00, after this you will incur no training fees regardless of how often you attend classes. You can also train from puppy class right through to advanced obedience levels at no further cost.  This membership stays valid until the 31st of December 2023.

We do offer reduced rates for second dogs and are all memberships are non refundable.  You can also upgrade at any time.

We get asked this question a lot! The short answer is that we genuinely believe our free puppy training classes will allow you to see for yourself the effectiveness of our puppy school, encouraging you to train with us further. It really is that simple.

Come along to our puppy school and try two obligation-free puppy classes at no charge. Other dog training schools can charge around $80.00 for these, but we promise that you won’t pay a thing until after these two free classes.

Due to concern for the welfare of our customer’s dogs, we have chosen to implement a heat policy. If the temperature in Ringwood is higher than 36 degrees after 5pm on Thursday afternoons, all puppy training classes will be cancelled. We also recommend that no puppy under the age of 12 weeks should attend if the temperature is over 34 degrees. We apologise for any inconvenience this heat policy may cause, however we truly feel this is a genuine safety concern that we need to address.
