Puppy Classes

PUPPY TRAINERS IN MELBOURNE

Puppy

Please find all the information for our puppy classes below.  Directly below are the links to book in a class.  We release what spots are available each Friday morning for the following week.  If this is your first class with us look for a link to our “first timer puppy class”.  Classes at this time book out quickly and we release as many spots as we can each week.  For all other information on our puppy classes such as times, costs etc please scroll past the eventbrite links and you will find all your questions answered there or call us on (03) 9723 4387 and we can answer any questions you have.

Hello everyone, below are the links to the bookings for classes for Thursday the 20th and Sunday the 23rd of May.  Please note this week the classes go on sale at 12pm Friday the 14th May. This week we have again included some “spectator spots” for people who would like to bring another person with them to observe the class.  There are 20 spectator spots for each time slot that we run classes for.  You will need to book into one of the spots that matches your class time slot. At this time we are allowing only one spectator per dog/puppy.  This week we have cut the number of 1st timer adults and1st timer puppies to 5 each to help us manage numbers.  We understand that this will mean people miss out on getting into a first timer spot however we simply cannot continue to open spots if we cannot in good faith provide the appropriate level of service into the future.  We hope people understand this.  We will continue to open as many first timer spots as we can each week.

To attend a class click on the below Event Brite link for the class that is applicable to you.  Classes are generally divided up into Age groups (sub or older than 5 months of age) and whether you have attended classes prior (if you haven’t attended a class with us before register for a 1st Timer class for your dog’s age group).  Please read each class description to make sure you book into the correct class for your dog or puppy.  If you are unsure which class will suit your dog or puppy, please call us to discuss.

Once you have completed the registration process you will receive a confirmation ticket, if you do not receive a confirmation email ticket the registration has not been successful.

We still have limitations on participant numbers and know that we cannot accommodate everyone at every session.  Please continue to be patient with us and what we can offer.  If you booked a class Thursday, please allow someone else to book in for Sunday or vice versa.

All bookings will be made via Eventbrite for the foreseeable future to ensure we maintain full records to support contact tracing if needed.  We are working on allowing more than one handler/family member to attend however at this time we can still only allow one handler to attend with each dog.

If this is your first time attending a class with us we require an up to date copy of your pup/dogs vaccination records. To reduce contact as much as possible please send us a copy of your pup/dogs vaccination record on the link provided in the event.

Upon successful registration (in the next few days) you will receive an email outlining what you will need to bring to attend class, what you are required to do whilst at class, who can attend classes etc.  Please read this email carefully to make sure you are aware of all protocols you must follow whilst attending classes.

“There is no more important time in your dog’s life than in the period from 6 to 20 weeks of age. For this reason, there is probably no more important training you will do with your dog than puppy classes.” Michael Garden

Learn more about our puppy school, preschool and puppy training classes with the frequently asked questions below.

Yes, we do have age restrictions in place for our puppy school and preschool in Melbourne. We currently accept puppies from 10 weeks to 5 months of age. After approximately 5 months of age, pups will move from our puppy classes up to our basic dog training class.

We encourage every new puppy owner to consider puppy training from an early age. Multiple studies have found that exposing puppies to high levels of stimuli early in life can improve their overall temperament as well as increase their ability to handle stress – both as a puppy and an adult. As a result, puppy class can help prevent many common behavioural problems, such as aggression, separation anxiety, fears, and many more.

To ensure this exposure is in as safe environment as possible, our puppy school is conducted on sealed surfaces that have been exposed to ultra violet light, and all dog waste is cleared up promptly. We also ensure that all adult dogs who participate have been fully vaccinated. These precautions allow us to create as safe environment as we can for your puppy.

Our puppy trainers cover the following areas in each puppy class:

  • Basic obedience puppy training (including commands such as sit, drop, stand and come)
  • Preventing bad behaviours such as jumping up and nipping
  • Toilet training for puppies
  • How to prevent aggression over food, bones, toys and other items
  • Correct socialisation of puppies (there is more to socialisation than simply letting your puppy play with other dogs)
  • How not to barge though doors and how to be calm in the house
  • How to lie on a matt until told to come off

As with all of our dog training classes, our puppy training in Melbourne is run by instructors who have been through a thorough training program and have extensive puppy training experience. As a result, we can assist with a range of issues, including toilet training puppies.

To give our clients the best chances of success, our puppy trainers are also available before and after classes to provide advice. There is plenty of time allocated in our puppy class for all your questions.

Our puppy classes have two different time slots: Please note that due to Government restrictions re Covid 19 these times do not apply at this time.  Thursday evenings at 7.00pm and Sunday mornings at 10.00am. The classes are held at Norwood Secondary College, situated on Byron St in Ringwood (Melways Reference 49 K4). You will see signs both on Byron St as well as once you’ve entered the School, helping to show you where to go.

We recommend you arrive 10 minutes before the puppy training class begins, and you should bring your puppy, a lead, and your puppy’s vaccination card.  You will need to book through  Like as on facebook for all our puppy class updates.

After you’ve enjoyed your first four free puppy school and preschool classes, we offer 4 different options for you to choose from if you wish to continue puppy training (we’re sure you will!).

Our Bronze Membership has no upfront membership fee and you can attend as many classes as you choose for the small fee of $50.00 per class.

Our Silver membership is ideal for those wanting to attain a basic level of control and obedience. This membership level has a annual membership fee of $395.00 and then you only pay a $10 fee for each class you and your puppy attend.  If due to Government Covid restrictions the classes are such down at any stage the membership period will be extended for the period classes are shut down.

Our Gold membership is designed for those wanting to train their puppy to a higher obedience level. The cost is a once-off membership fee of $1000.00, after this you will incur no training fees regardless of how often you attend classes. You can also train from puppy class right through to advanced obedience levels at no further cost.  This membership stays valid until the 31st of December 2023.

We do offer reduced rates for second dogs and are all memberships are non refundable.  You can also upgrade at any time.

We get asked this question a lot! The short answer is that we genuinely believe our free puppy training classes will allow you to see for yourself the effectiveness of our puppy school, encouraging you to train with us further. It really is that simple.

Come along to our puppy school and try four obligation-free puppy classes at no charge. Other dog training schools can charge around $80.00 for these, but we promise that you won’t pay a thing until after these four free classes.

Due to concern for the welfare of our customer’s dogs, we have chosen to implement a heat policy. If the temperature in Ringwood is higher than 36 degrees after 5pm on Thursday afternoons, all puppy training classes will be cancelled. We also recommend that no puppy under the age of 12 weeks should attend if the temperature is over 34 degrees. We apologise for any inconvenience this heat policy may cause, however we truly feel this is a genuine safety concern that we need to address.

If you have any questions regarding our puppy school classes, call our puppy trainers anytime on (03) 9723 4387 to obtain more information.
